2025/26 Season
Sunday March 1st: Folk of the Baroque 2: "Composers Gone Wild"
Back by popular request, a favourite programme makes a comeback, but with new music and stories! It’s easy when reading about history to imagine that people back then, especially classical composers, were well-behaved. But scratch the surface and they were just as flawed as any of us – and sometimes it inspired their greatest work!
Breaking contracts, brawling, affairs, murders, and more, we will dig up the dirt on your favourite historical music makers. Works for Baroque chamber ensemble by Bach, Handel, Stradella, and more!
There will also be a small craft market featuring items made by creative folks in our audience!

Sunday May 3rd: Pallade e Marte
In this rare revival, Rezonance Baroque Ensemble presents a short, unstaged opera by Italian composer Maria Margherita Grimani (1680 – c.1720). Grimani was an early operatic trailblazer, but her music was long overlooked by music history. This short work was composed for the name day of Emperor Charles VI, in Vienna. Pallas Athena (Vania Chan) and Mars (Andrea Ludwig) take turns praising the emperor. Pallas, radiant and resolute, stands in poised contrast to the impetuous Mars, their musical dialogue crackling with both rivalry and revelation.
Vania Chan – Soprano
Andrea Ludwig – Mezzo Soprano
Daniel Brielmaier – Baroque Oboe
Rezan Onen-Lapointe – Artistic Director, Baroque Violin
Kailey Richards – Baroque Violin
Matt Antal – Baroque Viola
Felix Deák – Baroque Cello
David Podgorski – Harpsichord
Benjamin Stein – Theorbo & Lute
